La Villette en Suites

Parc de la Villette: Acces Porte de Pantin

April 15th – September 13th 2015

Varini has been painting public spaces, confusing and captivating his ever-growing audience since 1979. Most paintings stretch across a very large surface area, one of the most impressive being an entire village in the Swiss Alps. In spite of their size however, his pieces are coy. Without searching the room for his starting point you could miss the image altogether. Currently at Parc de la Villette you can see some of his work up close and personal, or more precisely, at a distance from the one point in the room his whole painting comes together. Pushing the audience into physically assuming his exact perspective of the work is a refreshing take on artist-audience presentation. A tasty diversion from the broad, ambiguous and ever changing interpretations of the art world as we know it.
