William Klein – Tokyo: 1961

Location: Polka Galerie // 12 rue Saint-Gilles 75011

End date: May 9th 2015

The Polka Galerie is a step of the main drag and requires some snooping to find. Quaint and unassuming, it could be easy to miss this sharp, little bite of culture in the back courtyard. American photographer, William Klein, brings forth in this tiny gallery some of the explosive pieces that gave him international, bigwig status. A showcase of humanity's expression, the outward sprawl from post-war Japan. Prostitutes to protest, Klein brings us the extremes of privacy and publicity, his forceful approach captures the vivacious and the vicious. Thumbs up.
