River & Portraits series [Byung-Hun Min]

By Marina Buston

Location: La Galerie Particulière / 11 et 16 rue du Perche

End date: January 4

Byung-Min Hun’s collection of photographs entitled River is like a gentle plunge into a winter wonderland. His photos are simple and monochromatic, but evoke feelings of serenity and warmth despite the snow that is often depicted. La Galerie Particulière is a wonderfully lit space with high ceilings—the perfect backdrop for the collection. I fell in love with the soft and warm lighting that contrasts so beautifully with the stark, cool aesthetics of Byung Min Hun’s work. Across the street is La Galerie Particulière 2, which features a series of portraits by the same artist. Each series is thought provoking, though they feature quite different subject matter. The artist’s signature style is easily recognizable in both galleries. Byung-Min Hun lives and works mostly in Seoul, South Korea.
