Henri Dauman's The Manhattan Darkroom is an amiable retrospective of politics, styles, and celebrities in Pop Art era America.

These photos are flashes in time we remember with nostalgia whether or not we were there. Dauman captured iconic moments with a remarkable sense of sound and movement – sweat dripping from the brow of Miles Davis, elated Elvis fans, Jackie Kennedy dressed in black.

Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, greased hair, cigarettes and chromed cars, all feel familiar even to those who weren't there. Entering The Manhattan Darkroom reminds us that the romance isn’t lost.

Dauman gives additional context by displaying the contact sheets from his photoshoots. The legendary photographer himself was present – he even let me take his picture.

This event is free, folks, don’t miss it.
